The 16 Best Things To Do In Las Vegas With Kids
Las Vegas may be known for its casinos and crazy night life, but what many don’t realise is that it’s home to exciting, affordable, and unique activities that are perfect for the entire family. Check out below our favorite 16 experiences that everyone can enjoy while in Las Vegas.
1. Check out Container Park
Built from repurposed shipping containers, Container Park is a one-stop-shop for food, fun, and shopping – but the main attraction is the ‘fun for any age’ Cre8Play children’s park. Boasting everything from a giant container treehouse, a mind-bending treasure hunt, oversize Lego blocks, and plenty of live entertainment that both children and adults will appreciate, you can spend all day burning lots of energy on the cheap! To get the most out of Container Park, we recommend heading there in the late morning to enjoy all the activities before taking a break for lunch.
2. Take a tour to Red Rock Canyon
It’s easy to think of bright lights and entertainment when planning a visit to Las Vegas, but just 25 miles from the Las Vegas Strip you’ll trade in the noise for awe-inspiring rock formations and endless golden orange vistas. Pack your water bottle, sunscreen, and plenty of snacks, and enjoy one of the 26 hikes on offer. Well-marked and easy to navigate, Red Rock Canyon walks are a perfect introduction to the stunning landscapes the region has in store. Be sure to start your day early to get the most out of your day out of the city.
Check out Canyon Tours, a highly rated locally owned company who operate tours to Red Rock, the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and alot more.
3. Give Indoor Skydiving a go
For the older children who aren’t afraid to give new challenges a try, Vegas Indoor Skydiving is the perfect way to get the adrenaline soaring... safely! 120 mph winds will lift your body off the ground, and as you follow your instructor's lead, you’ll truly feel like you’re flying through the air. Located at 200 Convention Center Drive, you can have a sleep in, skydive, and be ready for more fun by lunchtime! Just be sure children weigh 40lbs or more if they're looking to go indoor skydiving.
4. Visit the Hoover Dam
The Hoover Dam is an absolute engineering feat, and there’s no better way to get a feel for its massive size than to walk across the top. Just a 30-minute drive from the Las Vegas Strip, head out bright and earlier in the morning to beat the heat and the crowds. Adults and kids alike will marvel at the 726ft wall of concrete holding back Lake Mead. We recommend bringing a picnic lunch to enjoy or head into the visitor center for snacks and a refreshing drink. Tip: there’s free parking on the Arizona side of Hoover Dam!
5. Enjoy an evening at Tournament Kings
If you’re planning a visit to Las Vegas with kids, experiencing the exhilarating Tournament Kings dinner should be on your list. The entire family will be encouraged to eat with your hands while you're drawn into the drama and lively competitions. Entertainment includes fire-breathing dragons, knights taking to battle, and a princess that must choose good over evil. The show lasts 90 minutes, and with 6pm start times available, everyone can be back to the hotel and getting ready for bed before the nightlife kicks off.
6. Indulge your tastebuds at Ethel M.’s Chocolate Factory
Is there anything better than a free chocolate factory tour.. with samples given out along the way? Ethel M.’s Chocolate Factory is a chocolate lovers paradise, and kids will love exploring the factory and watching employees (latched to safety belts to prevent falls into chocolate!) work around giant tanks of chocolate as tubes and machines shoot out the final product. The best part, located next to the factory is Ethel M Botanical Cactus Garden where kids can enjoy burning off their energy and learning about the unique cacti and succulents grown here.
7. Travel back to the lawless 1800’s at Eldorado Canyon
Located just 45 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, step back in time and experience the Wild Wild West for yourself at Eldorado Canyon. With half-day tours right from Las Vegas, you can enjoy a hassle-free morning and let your expert guide transport you back to times of gold miners and cowboys. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the abandoned Techatticup Mine, visit an old General Store, and for an extra fee, bring your denim and take a family photo that’ll be perfect for the next Christmas Card.
8. Get your fun on at Adventuredome
For a guaranteed fun time, head to Circus Circus and spend an afternoon at Adventuredome. Complete with rides for every age, from El Loco roller coaster, an old-fashioned carousel, pirate-themed miniature golf, indoor bungee jumping, and plenty of clown shows and circus acts to keep you entertained while in line, the only thing that’ll slow you down is the need for a good snack. If you have a few hours to spend here, make sure you save money and get the All Day Ride Pass!
9. Bounce away at Skyzone Indoor Trampoline Park
Kid's minds will be blown when you walk through the door of Skyzone Indoor Trampoline Park. Filled wall-to-wall with trampolines, the entire family can enjoy everything from ultimate dodgeball, practicing flips into a giant foam pit, Skyslam to ace those basketball dunks, and a challenge zone to test your coordination. If you're looking to get a workout in, they even offer Skyfit classes where you'll burn up to 1000 calories as you joyfully bounce around. Everyone is sure to leave tuckered out and ready for dinner!
10. Spend an afternoon cooling off at Lake Las Vegas Water Sports
If you’re looking to beat the heat, head out to Lake Las Vegas Water Sports. Located just 20 miles from the Las Vegas Strip, you’ll leave the bright lights behind to enjoy the tranquillity of Lake Las Vegas. With a range of activities from cruising around on an electric boat, testing out your balance on a Stand-Up Paddle Board, or enjoying the giant water playground at Aqua Park – you’ll feel like you’re on a vacation within your vacation! Plus, with plenty of restaurants dotting the shoreline, you can head back to your hotel refreshed and fed.
11. Enjoy the ‘Brilliant’ night show at Neon Museum
Getting kids interested in history is no easy task, but take history and turn it into an entertaining and magical light show and you’ll be amazed at what fun facts your kids will pick up. You can visit the Neon Museum anytime, but for a family-friendly experience we recommend choosing the evening ‘Guided Tour + Brilliant Experience’. A knowledgeable guide will take you around and point out both the famous signs and the more unique artifacts of the museum, then after, a 30-minute show will bring the unrestored signs to life through an incredible projected light show.
12. Get competitive at Twilight Zone Mini Golf
It’s a known fact that Las Vegas knows how to put on a show, and this couldn’t be truer than at Twilight Zone by Monster Mini Golf. While the goal of getting the lowest score after 18 holes stays the same, you and your kids will soon find yourselves wrapped up in the magical glow-in-the-dark props and artwork showcased around the course. Plus, with affordable rounds and bowling and an arcade right next door, you'll likely find yourself spending an entire afternoon enjoying the experience!
13. Let your inner nerd out at Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N.
If your kids are a fan of Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor or anything Avengers related, this is sure to be their trip highlight. At Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N, you will take part in an interactive exhibit that brings you through the necessary training to become an Avengers Agent. With well thought out stories and incredible simulations, it’s easy to forget about the outside world and dive right into the world of superheroes. You’ll get hands-on with puzzles and trivia and get an up-close look into the deep secrets of becoming an Avenger Agent.
14. Get up to close to retired show animals at Lion Habitat Ranch
Just a 30-minute drive from Las Vegas, you and your family can see first-hand the incredible beauty of Lions and other exotic animals at Lion Habitat Ranch. Home to retired MGM lions as well as wild birds and a giraffe, you’ll love watching these animals play and interact with the volunteers. If you're feeling brave, you can even hand-feed the giraffe or the lions for an extra cost. Since the mighty animals are used to being around and being handled by people, they’re all friendly and love a good pet!
15. Check out Discovery Children’s Museum
Impossible to get your kids to enjoy a visit to a museum? The Discovery Children’s Museum will immediately change their mind with 3-floors of interactive, brain-stimulating fun! Showcasing modern and well thought out exhibits, you’ll forget your brain is being put to the test as you create currents in Water World, dig up evidence to solve archaeological puzzles, create Doctor Sues inspired artwork, and test your own ideas to conquer engineering challenges. The museum has a range of activities to fit every age so bring the family along for a great day of learning!
16. Watch a Cirque du Soleil show
A visit to Las Vegas is not complete without watching a Cirque du Soleil show with the family. Known for its jaw dropping acrobatic stunts, Cirque du Soleil performances will grab your attention from the start and leave you on the edge of your seat throughout. There’s plenty of shows to choose from, but our favorite for families is ‘Mystere’ as it has the perfect blend of humor, dangerous feats, and gravity defying stunts while keeping the show interactive and light-hearted for everyone to enjoy.
You may be wondering how you’ll fit in all these wonderful activities, but take out a map, jot down your favorites and you’ll find its easy to tick off many of these exciting experiences in just a few days. Enjoy your time in Las Vegas and don’t forget to take plenty of photos to enjoy for years to come!
