From the classic Texan Barbecue, to a host of new openings offering Vietnamese, Mexican and West African cuisine to name but a few. Back in 2018, GQ called Houston the new capital of southern cool and it's just got better and better since then. If you're visiting for a day or weekend, you won't be able to pack in alot so we have picked our 9 favourite eateries for you to try on your next visit to Houston.

Warehouse 72’s vast dining room comprises glass walls and lofty ceilings with large scale original artworks adorning exposed brickwork. The pricey, Italian tinged menu includes angel hair pasta with truffle cream sauce, beef tenderloin carpaccio, and za’taar roasted chicken with Aleppo pepper. There is a good wine list, including a number of premium Italian labels. Artisan cocktails and craft beers are also available. An exterior patio with tables offers outdoor dining.

The restaurant’s mantra is to produce freshly made, seasonal dishes incorporating ethically sourced, local ingredients, without skimping on taste.

Cavo Coffee is a duo of specialty coffee houses serving breakfast and lunch from their respective Greenway and West University neighbourhoods. An extensive drinks menu contains 13 varieties of coffee, all brewed in-house at the neighbouring Cleo Roasting Company ‘coffee lab’ using ethically sourced beans. Cavo serves breakfasts and lunches up till 2pm, with dishes ranging from fresh croissants, and avocado and eggs on sourdough toast, to nourishing vegetarian and beef filled tacos. Generous portions, competitively priced and tasty.
